Frequently Asked Questions

PRODUCTS

What sets The Meanest products apart from traditional cleaners?

The Meanest cleaning solutions are made with only three from-the-earth ingredients: salt, water, and electricity. They are biodegradable, eco-friendly, and 100% safe for people, pets, plants, and planet. The Meanest products are also multipurpose formulas and can clean every surface in any school, commercial kitchen, dump, warehouse, office building–you name it. With The Meanest products, you can kick traditional toxic chemicals to the curb and get a #meanclean.

What surfaces can you use The Meanest Cleaning Supplies on?

The Meanest is a jack of all trades. It can be used on virtually any hard surface that needs to be cleaned. Countertops, floors, gym mats, desks, laptops, cell phones, windows, walls, wood, and almost anything else you can think of.

Are there any hard surfaces that I have to be careful using The Meanest products on?

Over time, HOCl can be tough on certain metals such as untreated steel, aluminum, silver or chipped enamel. To avoid any pitting or discoloration, we advise that you wipe these surfaces down after applying our solutions. If you soak tools in The Meanest solutions, we recommend soaking for 2-10 minutes, then rinsing with water, then drying.

Can The Meanest products clean anything that isn’t a hard surface?

Yes, our solutions can clean toys, clothing, linens, upholstered furniture, kitchenware, and more. Our solutions both remove dirt and deodorize these items.

Are The Meanest products a “diluted bleach solution”?

No. The Meanest products are very different from bleach. Our main ingredient, hypochlorous acid, belongs to a different oxychlorine species that is not similar to sodium hypochlorite (also known as bleach). The Meanest products’ pH levels are in a neutral range that almost matches the pH of the dermal layer of humans. Bleach solution, otherwise known as “Dakins Solution,” is a very high pH, is not shelf stable, and has to be used quickly to be an effective disinfectant.

What makes The Meanest products effective?

The Meanest All-Purpose Cleaner’s active ingredient is hypochlorous acid (HOCl) and The Meanest Degreaser’s active ingredient is sodium hydroxide (NaOH). Each compound is added to a neutral electrolyzed water solution. The Meanest APC solution and The Meanest Degreaser solution are the products of different electrochemical processes. Our team of scientists further optimized these solutions through a proprietary process that makes them shelf stable for years versus days.

Do The Meanest products contain fragrances?

The Meanest products do not contain any fragrances as these would destabilize the cleaning solutions. Our solutions have a very slight chlorine smell upon dispensing, which dissipates almost immediately, but acts as a deodorizer.

Do The Meanest products have a shelf life? Where do I store them?

Unlike other competitive cleaners, The Meanest products use zero carcinogenic preservatives. The Meanest All-Purpose Cleaner and Odor Eliminator has an 18-month shelf life (12 month once opened) and The Meanest Degreaser has a 3-year shelf life (2 years once opened). We recommend storing all of our products in a dark and cool place out of direct sunlight. Storage temperature should not be less than 40 degrees Fahrenheit or over 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

Are The Meanest products safe to use around children and pets?

Yes, these formulas are made by applying a low electric charge to a combination of salt and water. The combination of these ingredients creates hypochlorous acid, which is a chemical compound naturally produced by the human body as part of our immune response. These products are all-natural and do not contain any carcinogens or harmful synthetic chemicals.

Can The Meanest products be used as a produce wash?

Yes, The Meanest All-Purpose Cleaner formula is a safe and effective produce wash.

Can I use The Meanest products at home?

Yes. Some of the best places to use these solutions at home are in bathrooms, on high-contact surfaces, and in the kitchen to keep food-contact surfaces clean while not harming the food itself.

THE MEANEST. ALL-PURPOSE CLEANER

What is HOCl?

Hypochlorous Acid (HOCl) is the active ingredient in The Meanest All-Purpose Cleaner. It’s a compound found naturally in human white blood cells with the primary purpose of fighting off bacteria and viruses. Our proprietary solution is replicated outside of the body by running an electrical charge through a combination of salt and water. The resulting reaction produces HOCl within a solution known as anolyte. This solution is making waves in the cleaning industry and showing everyone what a clean clean is. No harsh chemicals. No artificial scents. No residue.

How does HOCl work?

HOCl works to break down the cells that are creating an infection by destroying the cell membrane and its DNA, thus halting its replication or growth process. The human body produces HOCl to reverse markers of epidermal aging, protect against environmental aggressors and cleanse the skin. When utilized as an application outside the human body, a PH-neutral HOCl solution, like The Meanest APC, works in much the same way.

When should I use The Meanest APC?

The Meanest APC is your go-to all-purpose cleaner for daily maintenance. It can be used liberally on any and all surfaces to eliminate surface level dirt and odors.

THE MEANEST. DEGREASER

What is NaOH?

The Meanest Degreaser’s active ingredient is sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and is the natural by-product of the hypochlorous process. NaOH is the same as lye (the dry, pure form) and is widely used in most floor cleaning machines, as well as carpet extractors. Most cleaners and degreasers add surfactants (soaps) in their products. The residues left behind only lead to a food source for more germs to come back. The Meanest Degreaser is a “self-surfactant” turning dirt and oil into soap – leaving no residue behind. The technical term is “saponification.”

How does NaOH work?

When sodium hydroxide combines with an oil or fat, a process called saponification takes place. In this process, triglycerides react with NaOH to produce glycerol and a fatty acid salt called “soap.”

When should I use The Meanest Degreaser?

The Meanest Degreaser is your best friend with caked-on food, grease, and grime. It’s specifically helpful in kitchens, bathrooms, drains, and other difficult-to-clean areas.
